Quotation: “We are men, and are able to bear; but you must be our star and our hope, and we shall act all the more free that you are not in the danger, such as we are” (214)
Comment: I picked this quote because I thought it was interesting how intent the men were on protecting Mina from the task at hand. In addition, they name her as their hope which becomes ironic since we learn later that Mina has also been “infected” by Dracula.
Question: Does Stoker make Mina the hope because she has been a witness to the horror but remained steadfast, or simply because she’s a woman?
