Quotation: “… in an instant she had vanished, and where, not a moment before, she herself had bee, I found myself confronting a monstrous beetle, — a huge, writhing creation of some wild nightmare”(245)

Comment: I chose this quote because one of the main questions being asked is who or what is the beetle. Through Lessingham’s recounting, we have found that the beetle is definitely a woman and she has come back for him most likely because he tried to murder her.

Question: The beetle has been said to have the ability to shapeshift, so is her final form a woman? Also, is she only mad at Lessingham for trying to kill her or is there more to the story?
